ASSISTANT COOK — PART-TIME POSITION AVAILABLE
Lunch by George | Kingston, Ontario
Lunch by George is seeking a dependable and hardworking Part-Time Assistant Cook to join our kitchen team.
Lunch by George prepares and serves nutritious meals to members of our community. The Assistant Cook will work under the direction of the Head Cook and assist with the daily preparation, packaging and cleanup involved in our meal program.
Position: Part-Time
Hours: Approximately 20 hours per week, generally between 7:00 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on scheduled days
Wage: $22.00 per hour
Start Date: As soon as possible
Location: Lunch by George, Kingston, Ontario
Responsibilities
The Assistant Cook will:
Work under the direction of the Head Cook to prepare meals for daily service.
Assist with food preparation, including preparing vegetables, salads and other meal components.
Portion and plate prepared meals in takeout containers.
Wash and sanitize pots, pans, trays, utensils and other kitchen equipment.
Assist with daily kitchen cleanup and garbage removal.
Follow proper food-handling, sanitation and workplace safety practices.
Help maintain a clean, organized and efficient kitchen.
Assist with other kitchen duties as required.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will:
Have experience working in a kitchen or preparing meals for groups. Experience preparing meals for large groups is an asset.
Have knowledge of safe food-handling practices.
Be dependable, punctual and able to work effectively as part of a team.
Be comfortable working in a busy kitchen environment.
Be able to stand for extended periods and safely perform the physical duties associated with food preparation and kitchen cleanup.
Be flexible and willing to assist wherever needed.
Be able to provide a Criminal Records Check, if required.
